A Hardin County man has been killed in an apparent self-defense shooting.

Saturday night at approximately 10:30, the Elizabethtown Police Department responded to the shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Village Drive. The preliminary investigation showed that 29-year-old Irving White arrived at the home with two adults inside, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

There was an altercation between White and the people inside the residence, police said, with White returning to his vehicle. He then began shooting into the home, with the occupants returning fire, striking White. Elizabethtown police told the newspaper the investigation “indicates the shooting was self-defense.”

White attempted to leave the area in his vehicle but soon succumbed to his injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

White’s Facebook page indicates he was originally from Washington D.C. and graduated from North Hardin High School in Radcliff.
