Kentucky State Police is investigating after a Trigg Co. man was shot after firing at deputies.

The shooting occurred Monday night on Bush Road, about three miles north of Cadiz. State police originally said in a release that the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of an intoxicated driver. When deputies made contact with the male driver, he brandished a handgun and fired at deputies. Police returned fire, striking the man.

In a later report by WKDZ.com, Trigg County emergency personnel told the news outlet that “deputies were called to the area for a report of a possibly suicidal man. Shortly after they arrived, deputies reported shots were fired and asked for an ambulance for the man, who suffered several gunshot wounds.”

Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree told the news outlet the suspect shot at deputies and they returned fire.

The suspect was transported to Trigg County Hospital. There has been no information released on his condition.

The deputies involved in the shooting were not injured and have been placed on administrative leave.
