Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting in Bullitt County that left one man dead.

Saturday night at approximately 11:45, Kentucky State Police received a request from the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office after deputies were involved in a shooting.

State police said the preliminary investigation revealed the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway near the 1600 block of Cedar Creek Road, not far from the Jefferson County line.

When deputies arrived, they located a car parked in the road and tried to compel the suspect to exit the vehicle, but the man fled, striking a deputy’s cruiser.

“It was at that time a deputy fired his weapon, striking the suspect,” according to KSP.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bullitt County Coroner’s Office. The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy and identification.

No officers were injured.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team.
