The Hardin County man accused of stabbing a someone nearly two dozen times and stealing the victim’s vehicle had been arrested in November 2020 on a felony charge but was released from jail after being released on an unsecured bond.
Tuesday night at about 7:00, De’Andre Jenkins, 23, of Radcliff, entered an occupied vehicle on Doris Way in Radcliff and stabbed the driver “approximately 20 times,” according to a report by The News Enterprise. The driver was stabbed in his face, neck and chest.
The victim is in stable condition, according to Radcliff Police Chief Jeff Cross.
Jenkins was located at approximately 11:00 Tuesday night in the victim’s vehicle behind North Hardin High School. He was arrested, and as he was being processed into the Hardin County Detention Center, he assaulted a staff member.
Jenkins was previously arrested in early November for kicking in the basement door of a residence on Kingswood Way, in Radcliff, and stealing multiple items from the home, the newspaper reports. When the homeowner returned to the residence, Jenkins was found asleep, but fled the home with several items after awaking.
He was soon arrested by Radcliff police and was in possession of the stolen items, including an Amazon Fire Strick streaming device and Roku television.
In that case, Jenkins was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, but was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. The Kentucky Court of Justice defines an unsecured bond as “a promise by the defendant to pay the designated amount upon a failure to appear when ordered by the court … or upon a breach of a material condition of release, not secured by any deposit of or lien upon property.
The suspect is now being held in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
