An eastern Kentucky couple is facing felony charges after their baby swallowed a large amount methadone.
Last week, the Madison County baby boy, who is less than one-year-old, was taken to a Richmond hospital after swallowing 120 grams of methadone, a narcotic used to treat moderate to severe pain, and is also used to treat certain drug addictions. Narcan had to be used to revive the child, according to media outlets.
Police said the parents, in allowing the nearly fatal incident, demonstrated “extreme indifference to human life.”
The baby’s parents, 38-year-old Brandon Wilson and 34-year-old Hillary Burch, both of Richmond, were arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center. Burch is no longer listed as an inmate.
