A Grayson County man arrested over 20 times since 2009, and 13 times since January 1, 2017, has been arrested for fighting with two Grayson County Sheriff’s Office deputies on the side of and on Peonia Road.

Wednesday night at approximately 9:15, Grayson County Sgt. Fred Norder and Deputy Jason Luedke responded to the 400 block of Peonia Road after receiving reports of an allegedly intoxicated male walking in the middle of the road.

Upon arriving, police made contact with 29-year-old Robert Trevor Hoben who, according to the arrest citation, was “speaking incoherently” and behaving as if he was under the influence of an unknown substance, as “nothing he was saying was making sense.”

After conducting a field sobriety test, and as deputies approached Hoben to place him in handcuffs, “he pulled away and attempted to run across Peonia Road,” the citation states. He then fought with deputies before Norder and Luedke were able to take Hoben to the ground.

Both deputies suffered injuries during the altercation.

Hoben was transported to the Grayson County Detention Center where he continued to “ramble incoherently.”

He was originally charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a highway, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), and obstructing governmental operations. Hoben was additionally charged with second-degree escape (a felony), as he tried to walk out of the detention center.

According to online records, Hoben has been arrested at least 23 times since 2009, with 13 of the arrests coming since January 2017. His record indicates Hoben has been arrested in Grayson, Breckinridge, Hart, and Marion counties by multiple police agencies, including the Grayson, Breckinridge, and Hart County Sheriff’s Offices, Munfordville PD, Lebanon PD, Horse Cave PD, and Kentucky State Police.

His arrest record includes multiple felony charges, including: Four first-degree wanton endangerment charges, multiple arrests for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), multiple arrests for third-degree assault of a police/probation officer, tampering with physical evidence, and receiving stolen property (under $10,000).

Hoben has additionally been arrested for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), multiple probation violations, multiple resisting arrest charges, theft by unlawful taking (under $500), criminal mischief, being a persistent felony offender, multiple driving on a suspended/revoked operator’s license charges, multiple public intoxication charges, multiple DUIs, multiple driving on a DUI suspended license charges, multiple failure to appear charges, criminal trespass, multiple possession of drug paraphernalia charges, non-payment of fines, and flagrant non-support, along with several traffic violations.

Wednesday night’s arrest marked Hoben’s fourth arrest in 2020, as he was arrested in January in Grayson County for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence); in August he was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and failure to appear, also in Grayson County; and in early November he was charged with driving on a DUI suspended license in Hart County.
