An eastern Kentucky man has been nabbed attempting to sell a child at a convenience store.

Kentucky State Police said that on Sunday, 29-year-old Harry Day, of Corbin, tried to sell a four-year-old boy for $2,500 at the Corbin Speedy Mart. Through an investigation, troopers located Day’s vehicle on Spider Creek Road, about a mile east of Corbin, and arrested the suspect.

The child was found at a Corbin home owned by 26-year-old Gertrude Henson. Troopers, while at the home, located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both Day and Henson admitted to ingesting the drug earlier in the day.

Day was charged with promoting human trafficking (victim under 18) and DUI. Henson was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, two counts of possession of a controlled substance (meth, drug unspecified), prescription controlled substance not in its proper container, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In an unusual display of expedient adjudication, Day pled guilty to the charges on Monday and was sentenced to 360 days in jail.

Both are being held in the Knox County Detention Center.

Police did not release information on the relationship between the child, Day and Henson.
