An intoxicated Hopkinsville man has been charged with murder after striking and killing an elderly woman as she stood in her driveway.
Kentucky State Police said that Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:20, troopers responded to the scene in the 1100 block of Blue & Gray Park Road, in Elkton (Todd County).
Police said the preliminary investigation revealed 42-year-old Billy Jo Faughn was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee south when he exited the roadway and traveled several hundred feet before striking 71-year-old Sarah J. Barrow, who standing near the garage at her residence.
Faughn then hit an exterior wall of the home, where the vehicle came to rest, police said.
Barrow was airlifted to a Nashville trauma center where she succumbed to her injuries.
Faughn was arrested and charged with murder, DUI and possession of marijuana and lodged in the Todd County Detention Center.
Kentucky State Police continue to investigate.
