After more than two days of searching, crews have located the bodies of two swimmers who drowned at Lake Cumberland.

The two swimmers, 23-year-old Yanqi Xing and 23-year-old Guan Lian, both international students from China who attended Miami University of Ohio, according to media reports, were swimming off a houseboat on Friday with two other men when the boat began to drift away.

Two of the men were rescued by a boat, while Xing and Lian unsuccessfully attempted to catch and re-board the houseboat. They disappeared into the water as they swam to the boat and never emerged.

The bodies were located Sunday night and removed from the water early Monday morning.

The incident occurred between the Jamestown Marina and Wolfe Creek Dam, in Russell County.

Multiple search and rescue teams assisted in the search, including first responders from Russell, Wayne, Boone, Barren, and Pulaski counties.
