After the Administrative Office of the Courts released a statement on Friday concerning the reopening of Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ offices, Grayson County Circuit Court Clerk Stacie Blain issued a statement related to the issuance of driver’s licenses and photo IDs.

The statement in full:

The Grayson County Circuit Clerk’s office will start issuing driver’s licenses and photo IDs on a restricted schedule beginning Monday, June 1 (Only one person at a time).

We will issue license and IDs on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., however, we will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. You will have to wear a face mask upon entry and no purses or backpacks will be allowed.

You must still bring your old license and any necessary paperwork. Come to the front door and a bailiff will give you the necessary form you will need to fill out to obtain a driver’s license or ID.

We will also begin signing people up for the permit test on Tuesday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and we will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday will only be for permit testing sign-ups. Again, you will have to wear a mask upon entry and no purses or backpacks will be allowed. A person under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, however, only one parent or guardian will be permitted to enter.

You will only sign-up for the permit test in Grayson County. We will give you an envelope with your test card in it and a phone number to schedule your test in Hardin County. You will not get an appointment for the test the same day we sign you up.

Please understand the Circuit Clerk’s office is operating under orders of the Kentucky Supreme Court. Under those orders, we are staffed at 50 percent. A restricted schedule is necessary for your protection by eliminating foot traffic in the building and to allow a limited staff to provide the best possible service.

Your patience and cooperation are appreciated. As always, you can call our office at 270-259-3040 if you have further questions.
