The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has updated guidelines and recommendations regarding monitoring of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
According to a post on the GCHD Facebook page, recommendations for quarantining contacts of active cases were amended Wednesday.
“The Kentucky Department for Public Health now recommends passive monitoring versus active monitoring for contacts of active positive patients,” according to the health department.
“That means we are now still in contact with individuals who are contacts and quarantining them IF THEY ARE SYMPTOMATIC,” the post says. “Those who are not symptomatic are advised to monitor for symptoms frequently, wear a mask when they are with others, practice social distancing and contact the Grayson County Health Department and their primary care provider immediately if they become symptomatic.”
Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to contact the Grayson County Health Department’s COVID-19 hotline at 270-899-0467, or the health department directly at 270-259-3141.
As of Thursday afternoon, 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Grayson County. Twenty of those cases are connected to Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation, as 11 employees and nine residents have tested positive for the virus. It was announced Thursday afternoon that the facility will test all residents and staff members of the 72-bed facility.
