A moving train caught fire Sunday night in Scott County, spilling hundreds of gallons of fuel.
Just before midnight Sunday evening, the train was near Georgetown, at the crossing of Rogers Gap Road and Sims Pike, when a passerby reported seeing flames coming from one of the train’s cars. The car contained corn syrup.
About 600 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled during the incident, according to Lex18.com. The train is owned by Norfolk.
No injuries were reported. One family was evacuated for a brief time.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and cleanup is underway.
