Kentucky State Police is investigating allegations that a former Bullitt County teacher and coach had sexual contact with a former student.

Former teacher at Bullitt East High School and basketball coach at a Bullitt County middle school, Robert Troutman, is the subject of the investigation. A letter dated August 20, 2019, from Bullitt County Schools Superintendent Jesse Bacon to Troutman says:

“We are aware of a Kentucky State Police investigation into allegations of unlawful sexual contact with a former student at Bullitt East High School. While this matter is pending, and until further written notice, you are to have no contact whatsoever with any BCPS campuses or current students without specific written permission from the undersigned or my designee.

“A violation of this directive will be deemed a trespass onto school property and the appropriate law enforcement authorities will be called.”

Troutman, who resigned his position with Bullitt County Schools in early August, citing “other professional opportunities,” had been hired as the new girls head basketball coach at Bethlehem High School, in Bardstown. Tom Hamilton, principal at Bethlehem High School, said Troutman was hired in April but never began coaching at the private school.
