K105 is joining forces with Houchens Industries and the Stuff the Bus Foundation to give back to the local community through a unique in-store donation collection program.

Beginning Sunday and running through July 20, Houchens Industries locations — including the Leitchfield IGA, at 492 South Main Street, and Shell convenience store, at 227 South Main Street — will sell Stuff the Bus Mobile Tear-offs for $1 each, with all proceeds distributed directly to Grayson County Schools for children in need of essential school supplies. The locations will also have Stuff the Bus donation bins where customers may drop off school supplies and non-perishable food items.

In 2005, the first year of the Stuff the Bus initiative, the program raised about 2.5 tons of supplies for school children, and last year, the 14th year of the program, the generosity of the southern Kentucky community raised 25 tons of supplies.

Since its inception, the Stuff the Bus Foundation has been committed to making sure that every child enters the first day of school on an equal playing field – with the essential supplies needed to be able to connect with the teacher and classmates. The goal is to give every child, from Kindergarten through high school, the same first day of school experience as their peers, regardless of background or economic status.
