A Kentucky corrections officer has been arrested after authorities say she had sex with an inmate.
Tanya Risinger, 34, of La Grange, admitted to Kentucky State Police to having sex with an inmate she was supervising at the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center (KCPC) at the Luther Luckett Correction Complex in La Grange. The psychiatric center evaluates inmates before trial or sentencing, as well as determine the inmates competency at the time of the alleged offense.
Risinger told authorities she had sex with the inmate before breakfast in the dining facility of the prison on April 12. She was supervising two inmates at the time.
She also obtained a second phone so she and the inmate could maintain contact.
Lisa Lamb, a spokeswoman for the Kentucky Department of Corrections, told WAVE3.com that although the KCPC complex is located at Luther Luckett it is under the jurisdiction of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Lamb also said the crime was discovered and investigated by Luther Luckett correctional officers who turned their findings over to state police.
Risinger was lodged in the Oldham County Detention Center where she’s been charged with third-degree rape, a class D felony.
