The Leitchfield man accused of shooting his girlfriend in Moutardier has had his case sent to the Edmonson County Grand Jury, according to the Edmonson County Court Clerk’s Office.

Wesley Roberts, 33, was arrested on January 25 in Grayson County after he shot his girlfriend in the leg and hip as she tried to leave from the Moutardier Resort and Marina in a vehicle.

A witness to the shooting transported the 37-year-old female victim, of Leitchfield, to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. The victim was then airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition.

Roberts has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was charged with three counts of attempted murder because of the presence of two other people in the vehicle when he shot the victim. The two passengers were not injured.

Roberts fled the scene in a silver GMC pickup truck, but at approximately 3:45 that afternoon, nearly five hours after the shooting, Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins, Chief Deputy Jarrod Mudd and Sgt. Clay Boone, along with Deputies Rance Whobrey, DJ Newton, and Mark Newman and an Edmonson County Deputy, located Roberts, whose vehicle had become stuck in a field near the 4000 block of Anneta Road, according to Chaffins.

Roberts was taken into custody without incident, as he complied with commands to exit the vehicle, Chaffins said. After his capture, Roberts was turned over to the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held in the Hart County Jail on a $200,000 cash bond.

The domestic violence victim’s name will not be published by K105 unless given approval by the victim.
