A former teacher and instructional aid who worked in Fayette and Woodford Counties has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for having a sexual relationship with a juvenile.
Lindsey Banta Jarvis, 28, of Lexington, was convicted of third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy in Woodford County on Wednesday. On Friday, Jarvis will be sentenced in Fayette County on a third-degree rape charge. The sentences will run concurrently.
Jarvis was convicted of sodomizing the victim in May 2016 and had sexual intercourse with the 15-year-old boy in June 2016. She worked for the Woodford County school district as a social studies teacher at the time.
The investigation into Jarvis, who was married, was initiated in August 2016, not long after she left Woodford County and began working for the Fayette County school district. According to media reports, a Versailles police officer found Jarvis and the boy in a car at a Woodford County park at almost 1:30 in the morning.
Jarvis and the boy met several times over a period of months, at either Jarvis’ home or parks.
