Grayson County Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson has announced that Grayson County has received over $300,000 in discretionary road funds from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Henderson said $342,000 has been released to the county to “help improve our deteriorating infrastructure in the county.”

He said the roads that will benefit from the funds are Layman Road and Cook Road in the Sixth Magisterial District and Leitchfield Hartford Road in the Second District.

These funds are in addition to the $370,000 the transportation cabinet previously issued to Grayson County to repave Walnut Grove Road, Blowtown Road, Pleasant View Road, Jesse Skaggs Road, Kiper Road, Williams Cemetery Road, and Millers Orchard Road. Additionally, the transportation cabinet earlier in the year released $170,000 to repave Dog Creek Road.

“I would personally like to thank Secretary of Transportation Greg Thomas and Commissioner of Rural and Municipal Aid Gray Tomblyn for all their help in trying to improve our infrastructure in Grayson County,” Henderson said. “I would also like to personally thank Governor Matt Bevin for his prompt response to my request for help in trying to improve the road system for the safety and well-being of the residents of Grayson County.”

Henderson noted that the $883,000 earmarked to aid in improving roads in the county is in addition to the Rural Municipal Aid money the county receives from the state each year.

The Judge-Executive added that he, “Would also like to thank our current sitting magistrates for their continued desire to help improve the roadways in their respective districts, and in all of Grayson County.”

Henderson said he appreciates the patience of Grayson County citizens while his office “works out a time-line schedule with Scotty’s Paving” for making the improvements.
