(Leitchfield, KY) – From beauty queens to stinky fish, most all events for our radio family this past week revolved around the 69th Annual Grayson County Fair; either working or participating.  We enjoyed the fair, and it’s food, with our friends and family this week, as Sam Gormley, Camilla Falcon, and me (Misty Thomas) also helped fair-goers enjoy their fair experience with t-shirt and Beech Bend ticket giveaways, during live broadcast from fairgrounds.

We hope you enjoyed the live facebook broadcast of the  crowning of fair queens on Tuesday night, as I enjoyed being able to bring that coverage to you live from our K105 facebook page.  Ken Howlett took some beautiful still shots of all the winners, you can find on k105.com in the photo gallery.

See that piece of equipment in my hand, the joy stick/selfie stick looking thing?  It’s only the coolest piece of equipment I’ve used before.  It’s the reason your live broadcast were extremely smooth.  It’s robotic, and holds perfect balance the camera no matter the lapse in human ability to hold still.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have it with me for the Stinky Fish Challenge, hosted by the Leitchfield Police Department.  Neither did I have dependable connection to share the entire live broadcast with our facebook audience, but I did snap a few photos of the event.  The LPD raised $900 total for Shop With A Cop ($700 previously and $200 the day of the event).  Officer Brandon Cook counted the money before handing over to GC Sheriff Norman Chaffins, who organizes Shop With A Cop.

If you didn’t stop by the Farm and Home Reality & Auction booth to spin-the-wheel, and claim a free collapsible fan, then you missed out.  This is the 2nd coolest piece of equipment I got to hold this week; especially with the hot temperatures we experienced for the fair.

Misty’s choice award for best freebie at the fair goes to the collapsible fan.

Friday night, Sam Gormley headed to Edmonson Co. to broadcast the Cougars taking claim of the tobacco stick this year.  If you haven’t already downloaded our K105 app for iPhone/Android, you need to download so you can listen along with the game, and hear about all the other sports coverage Sam brings to the table during his broadcast.  The Locker Room Show begins every Friday at 6:30 p.m. and then Sam brings you a new series called “Cougars in the Classroom” where he highlighted the Marching Cougar Band this past Friday.

We all enjoyed our Labor Day with family.  I attended the Ducking Hunger Regatta at the Leitchfield Aquatic Center, and enjoyed watching the ducks make their way around the lazy river.  What a great event that raised $7,500 for the Grayson County Alliance.

Camilla’s family spent their Labor Day running as a family at Beville Park in Leitchfield.

There’s so many opportunities in Grayson County to enjoy with your family, some free, some not; however, I want to highlight what you and your family can do on Shop Local Leitchfield every weekday at 8:00 a.m. on 103.9 The Moose, and especially on “Where Are We Going Wednesday’s” with Co-Host Realtor Jaime Bratcher; also through my blog “Where Are We Going” published on Wednesday afternoons.  If your non-profit group or organization has an event coming up, please email the information to communitycalendar@k105.com so I can ensure we get your event highlighted in our various outlets.

Please share your photos to our Shop Local Leitchfield facebook page of where you spent time enjoying yourself in Grayson County this past week, and use the hash tags #ShopLocalLeitchfield and #WhereWeWent
