The Mammoth Cave man who wrecked his car on St. Anthony Road and left stolen long rifles in a field near his vehicle, has been indicted by the Grayson County Grand Jury on six counts of receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.

Derek Logan, 28, ran off St. Anthony Road and struck an embankment the night of June 17 of last year. He was injured in the accident and transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS.

As the Anneta Fire Department and Grayson Count Deputy Sheriff Fred Norder worked the scene, an Anneta fireman walked about 15 feet away from the vehicle and into a field and located five rifles lying in high grass. It was a humid evening, with dew covering the grass, but the firearms were completely dry, leading Deputy Norder to believe Logan had tossed or stashed the firearms in the high grass.

The firearms were later determined to have been stolen, and a subsequent search of Logan’s vehicle revealed various other stolen items, which were pilfered in Edmonson County.

Logan was indicted on five counts of receiving stolen property (for the firearms he had in his possession), receiving stolen property under $10,000, after he “received, retained or disposed of a moveable property,” and possession of marijuana, according to the indictment.

He’s being held in the Grayson County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, and is additionally awaiting possible prosecution in Edmonson County.

Other suspects indicted by the grand jury include:

Dakota B. Hudson, 22, of Leitchfield: Assault of a police officer, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), resisting arrest, being a persistent felony offender, and resisting arrest.

Hudson was given a $25,000 bond.
