A second Webster County Middle School teacher has been arrested by Kentucky State Police in an ongoing investigation involving child pornography and drug trafficking.
Last week, 36-year-old Jason A. West, of Newburgh, Indiana, was arrested for complicity to traffic in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
The Assistant Chief of Police of Providence, 51-year-old Larry King, of Madisonville, has also been arrested, accused of official misconduct as part of the probe.
Also last week, 48-year-old Lucia Jenkins, who was arrested earlier this month and charged with possession of child pornography, was additionally charged with 11 counts of complicity to traffic in a controlled substance for allegedly “conspiring and facilitating in the trafficking of controlled substances to include but not limited to methamphetamine,” according to a report in The Gleaner.
West and Jenkins were both social studies teachers at the middle school.
The probe began after Jenkins’ 29-year-old roommate died on September 13, and police began a standard death investigation.
During the investigation, police found child pornography on Jenkins’ cell phone, and learned that King, who was dating Jenkins, knew of Jenkins’ deviant sexual behavior and failed to act. Further investigation revealed a conspiracy between West and Jenkins to distribute methamphetamine.
All three suspects were lodged in the Webster County Detention Center but have since bonded out of custody.
